Now after learning about the SWPS and EBCM gremlins, I am a bit nervous. Previously owned 2 70 SS Chevelles, 2000 SS and 01 WS6 these cars have none of this to worry about. I really don't want another F-body. Do all C5's have active handling that will affect this? I know the 01-04 have replacement parts for these correct? Any insight would be great!
The C-5 is one of the most reliable GM cars ever produced. The EBCM 'problem' on 2001 and up is really a non problem. Every car produced has a gremlin of two.
If we all made our decisions based on potential problems we would never buy any car. All modern day electronic cars have an issue or two. Even cars that are built back to back on the assembly line, one can be perfect, the other may have an issue. It's luck of the draw.
But the ebcm issue on 01 and later C5's is not that big of an issue from what I understand. And not all pre 01 cars will develop the problem either. Plus there are other things that can trigger an ebcm issue when it's not actually the ebcm.

2000 and earlier cannot be fixed. 01 and newer can be.

Active handling came out in the middle of the '98 model year and was an option on the cars through the '00 model year. In '01, AH became standard equipment.
That's a personal decision. Only you can make up your own mind. Purchasing an automobile that you will obviously love, is not worth speculating about might happen. Buy the car, enjoy it, and you'll not regret it. Good luck. It's not life or death, there are always good Vettes out there.
