Default Power Seat link broken...

When I purchased my 1999 C5 Vette in 2010, the original owner informed me the seat mech. was broken for the driver's seat for lifting up/down the rear of the seat. Well I confirmed it during the upgrading of the ROCKING nylon bushing installation months later. Today I found on Ebay just the motor and links and ordered them. I replaced the broken link from the one ordered instead of replacing the complete motor link combo. The drawback is they design the motor mounts using rivets instead of nuts & bolts. Thus just replaceing the motor & link would be easier right, well wrong. The pins that hold the two motors in my vette had the heads towards the rail, the motor part that I ordered had the pins the oposite which can slid out towards the center of the seat. So I had to use a Air grinder with large 4" wheel to cut the head off on my seat and use the new pin loaded in the opposite side to resolve this. See pictures:

Just did the same, but cut the pin -head, , with a 12" metal blade in the sawzall to get clearance. Where on ebay did you find the trans and coupler for sale ? A friend needs the same. Found mine on the forum, very scarce items.

I know, it took several years to just find the motor & links for my vette. Do a search on Ebay "C5 Corvette Seats" and it comes up. Some are full lower rail, with motors (about $300 to 400). I think from a Corvette dismantler company. The one I found was just the two motors + the Fr & Rr motor and clasp link $153. I bid $90 and he accepted. Keep looking scarce but a good find if your lucky... If you friend needs a clasp I have the other one for the raising of the front part of the lower seat and Fr & Rr motor, it's in my storage for if mine breaks, I'll part with it if a fellow Vette really needs them.

Thanks for the offer, he needs the rear also. It sucks that the threads on the front and rear worm drives and turnbuckles are different. I thought they were the same until I dug into this.

Yea, good luck on your friends quest for it, keep on it, it comes on from time to time.. I search almost every other week for years until I saw it listed. No rush because the seat fit with the setting at the lowest for me so I don't even us it now to adjust up, it's at the bottom , BUT IT WORKS and that makes me feel good... Good luck.
