Default battery

Is there any way to disconect your batt. and not haveing to re-program any of the computer fuctions on the DIC.? I thought I saw here once that someone hooked up wires to a 9 volt batt. and attached them to the neg. and pos. cables before undoing the batt. and that the car keeps its memory. does anyone know if this is true, or has anyone done this. thanks

I've used a set-up I got from a auto part store which uses a 9 volt battery with a plug u plug into a power outlet like the old cig plug. Plug in the 9 volt b-4 unhooking your battery.

That will work, But it only takes a couple of minutes to re-program everything.

I've disconnected my battery many times and also had a few dead batteries along the way and never had to reset the DIC. It does reset the page which I need to reselect, but other than that, no functions or information changes are required. The only other item is the radio. If you have set the security settings, then you will need to input your code but all the stations are still live.

Same here. Not a big deal to reset whatever needs to be done to get it back to the settings before the battery disconnect.
