I replaced my original plugs and wires last summer while doing my valve spring swap at 40k. I went with the msd red plug wires, bought from a vendor here, they were the same price the parts store wanted for the gm wires (around $80). Ive not heard anything bad about the stock wires, just figured I'd try these for the same price. Went with ngk tr55 plugs.
out of curiosity why none of u go with GM AC Delco Iridium spark plugs? Is it because of the price or plain simple they r not good?
I went with them took out in 2k miles, absolutely no problem with them, NGK just works even better and can have less than $25 where as AC delco iridium too expensive but last looong time.
I actually saved them in safe place in case if i put my car back to stock (they dont recommend iridium plugs with SC setups).
I just went with factory iridiums, I think some people massively overthink the whole spark plug thing. I also went with GMPP red wires thus ensuring the resistance values were compliant with the stock dwell tables that I have no desire to fvck with.
I have ran the stock GM Iridium plugs and and the TR55s. Noticed no differences between the two, except the extreme price difference. The NGK TR55s are reasonably cheaper.

If you're going to go with non-Iridium plugs then should go with TR5s since they have the right gap of 0.040" per the TSB that changed the required gap from 0.060" to 0.040".

I am running the NGKs now with the correct gap; unsure if you were informing the OP or me.

Basically informing anyone reading this thread. Point is, if you want 0.040" gapped plugs per the TSB, then buy TR5s. Don't buy TR55s (that come at 0.060") and regap to 0.040" and don't buy TR5s (that come at 0.040") and regap to 0.060". NGK is against regapping that much ... they suggest buying the plugs at the gap you need, and not to re-gap.
