Default interior temperature sensor

While tinkering in my 97 C5 today, I popped off the small grill next to the ignition. There was nothing behind it just an open hole that when I looked through I could see the floor board. I know this is where the interior temp sensor is located, but was wondering if all C5s have them including ones with the manual HVAC controls. Any ideas??

My guess would be only the ones with the dual zone auto set units would have it, I don't see a need for it if you have the manual HVAC.

I may be wrong, but I think that sensor is only on cars equipped with the dual zone HVAC.
