I have a 99 LS1 with a LS6 (about to be an LS9 cam), LG long tube headers, Corsa exhaust, Black Wing intake, and a Lingenfelter Maggie 112 with the charge cooler and a 3.1 pulley (which will be going to a 2.9 pulley). I am sure I have a few other things, but thats the biggins
The reason why I cant remeber also is because I did this long ago (about 6-8 years ago). Which was also about the same time I did the EFI Live program that I used to get the car running. The EFI wasnt a full tune, so the car is running but not tapping its potential and very running rich. I know she isnt running right because a Honda with about 350 rwhp kept up with me easily, and also when it happens to get really cold out suddenly the car has more power. Not the usual cold air = more power increase but ALOT more. It is a whole different car.
So I am wondering if anyone had an idea on how to get the car more tuned in? I know that hand tuners have come along way since 6-8 years ago, so which hand tuner would you think would work the best?
Also, I have seen ECS advertise a tune in a box setup where you send them your ECU and your cars parameters/mods and they tweak the ECU for your car.
I dont want to go the way of the full EFI due to cost, and if I was going to drop that money I would get a dyno tune. The only reason I dont right now is because there isnt too many dynos or tuners around me and the drive is into another state for hours.
So, for right now, I just would like to see which would work the best in this situation that would be also most convenient.

Hand held turners are ok, But it sounds like you have a serious hot rod and in that case I would get and learn how to use a EFLive, You can to anything with it, You just have to do a lot of reading and it is worth it.

S/C applications need a custom tune by a reputable tuner. Mail order Tune will not work either.
The risk of losing the motor is too great not to spend on a real tune.
I understand all that.
Just that I would like to get something that would tune in my car a little better then what it has now. I would say right now that my car runs about the same as a stock car, even with all the goodies.
And because of the time and distance, I havent been able to drive to a dyno tuner
So I figured if I could get something to make it dial in more to where she should be.....
WOW. I would not drive it supercharged without a proper tune. I've been using HP Tuners on my NA car but there's a lot more involved with boost tuning in SD and I wouldn't attempt it without proper training. As far as I know, EFI Live has all the same functionality of HP Tuners. No handheld is going to give you a good tune for your setup.

I have to agree. With your setup your in the big leagues now and nothing short of a custom tune, be it a street tune or on a dyno is going to get you any further than where you are at right now. If you try fiddeling with it and you don't know what you're doing you may end up really sorry. It sounds like it has never been tuned right to begin with and that was with your EFI live setup. Anything less than a pro tune and you could end up really hurting the motor.
