Question for you guys,do we have a ls6 or ls1 engine? I was reading that a ls6 was a 427 in the older vettes and they took the ls1 combined the technology to make the new ls6? there are so many ls's out there I'm confused, your responses would be welcome, thanks.
All coupes, verts, and the original FRC's are LS1's. All Z06's are LS6's. In 01 they had 385hp. From 02-04 they were bumped up to 405hp. Hope this helped.
GM reuses its engine names from time to time. The original LS6 was a solid roller 454 that was a very rare option for the C3. The only combined technology is the fact both have spark plugs. Look at the C7 engine, arent they calling that the LT1. Reused from the C4 era.

The LT1 was also a C3 small block solid lifter engine so there are now three different LT1s.
