I'll move this up for you as I am interested in the answer as well. I am thinking of trying Plasti-dip.

Thanks C5vetteguy. What kind of paint did you use and how did you apply it?

I scrubbed the alternator with a wire brush, carefully hosed it down with brake cleaner and wiped it dry. I masked it off in the car and sprayed it with Krylon satin black. It looks fine for now. Taking it out of the car will let you do a better job, but isn't necessary.

It's not black, but the same idea. I plan on doing this in the spring when it finally warms up and I have my engine bay torn down... Plan on doing all the aluminum pieces in there, previous owner drove the car in the rain a lot and the aluminum shows it...and I always get jealous of other people's immaculate engine bays

I took mine apart, sanded all the casting marks off and had it powder coated. Alt bracket and throttle body got the same treatment.
Sorry, no pics of them on the car.

Looks great! I was originally going to do the same thing, then decided to just paint them with VHT "cast aluminum". I also did the water pump, timing cover, and steering rack (yeah I was that picky) since they looked like crap and I had them out of the car at the time. Only issues I ran into were the PS pulley broke when I was removing it, so I had an excuse to throw in an LS2 pulley...and one of the alternator brushes broke when I was popping the cap off, but those are readily available online for really cheap.

Very nice! What color powdercoat is that? Is it black or is the flash making it look like a gunmetal gray?
