Default Tire calculation?

I've been running 18" wheels on all corners with chrome zo6 c5 wheels and have decided to go back to 17" fronts. The question is what size tires should a person run. I have 295/35/18 on back running on continental tires. Would like to run continentals on front but limited to 255/40/17 or 255/45/17. What to do? Rim size on front 17x9.5. Would consider running another brand of tire. Maybe pics of your choices.

With 295/35-18 on the back, a 265/40-17 on the front would be an ideal choice - then the tires would be the same sizes as a stock Z06 runs.

I found this app some time ago. It does a pretty good job comparing/calculating all aspects of tire/rim measurements.

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 are available in the stock C5 Z06 sizes, which is what you'd want to run. They are about as cheap as you'll find tires in these sizes. A lot of guys here run them and seem to like them.

Front: 265/40R17
Rear: 295/35R18

275/40ZR17 is a very common size. Your choices are much more limited with 265s.
