Will this fit in a convertible? I didn't know if coupes and convertibles had the same compartment. I'm planning on replacing 4 twiddlers, use Bose sub in door, and run sub and amp from HU pre out. Does this usually sound ok?

if your going to run an amp then we need to set you up with a 5 channel amp, sub box, components in the doors and rear coax. This is the way to go and we can do this with the stock radio as well

Really didn't want to put a whole lot of money into it, have nice systems in my truck and wifes Camaro SS. I think the stock Bose sounds ok, figure speakers will help highs, and sub will get low bass. I have a sub and amp already. The Kenwood KDC-X996 should be enough for the replacement speakers. I do need a box though, does it fit convertibles and coupes?

you already have an amp for the sub
you already want to buy the speakers
so we are just suggesting a different amp and different speakers and your results would be night and day different
coupe vert and Z will all take the same box

Dennis do you do any color carpet?? I have a 50th anniversary which has the very light beige carpet.
Ok, never mind, just read the website & it states "black carpet only"
when I bought my car it had a V12 amp mounted behind the drivers seat and a 12" sub in the back. the Amp has been behind the seat for at least 6 years with the seat all the way back and never a single problem.
My 12" sub sits in the center compartment like most and the amp is located in the driver's side rear compartment. Still allows some storage of cleaning supplies and towels next to it.
I had a Custom Box built. My sub needed 1 square foot of air in the box to get its full potential. I'm bumpin a 12" Rockford Fosgate, and havent had any problems with it. One of My favorite mods. The box was so well done that it looks like it was integrated into the design of the Corvette. Ill try to pist a pic of it today if i remember (after work)
Where are you guys mounting your amplifier? i would rather it be hidden
you probably dont want it "too" hidden just because if you want to change a setting or fix something, youd want easy access. So still accessible but hidden... Maybe behind the Passenger seat? but you'd have to mount it to the car.
I have 2 questions,
I have my amp on the back wall also. Did you run the screws into the back wall also as my amp seems to be pulling the carpet piece down from the weight
What size wire do u typically run from the amp to a 10" sub ?
Thanks

I prefer to use machine screws and go all the way through the rear wall. Remember to use lock washers or nylon locking nuts. I did wood screws before, but the amp fell off under hard braking.
I use 10 awg wiring on my 500w setup. I would think 12 awg would be more than appropriate for your application.
