How is it that you can conclude the EBCM (the part that ABSFIXER repairs and the part repairable in the above referenced link) are the cause of the error messages that the OP is getting?
We don't have any codes that tell us the EBCM is at fault and there are at least two failing components that I can think of that can cause the same messages. A problematic Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) or a problematic wheel speed sensor can cause the same messages. Further, even if there is a problem with the EBCM, it may NOT be one that can be fixed. Only code C1214 can be fixed by ABSFIXER or the do it yourself repair in the referenced link. Here is the link to what ABSFIXER will repair:
Thanks for all of the replies and help. I do appreciate it. It seems as if I need to pull the code(s) first then go from there. That may mean a trip to the dealership for further diagnosis to find the problem(s), or if indeed code #1214 shows up, then I go with ABSFIXER.com.
Question: Is the car safe to drive at all in this condition?

Question: Is the car safe to drive at all in this condition?
Of course its safe. Computer controls on certain aspects of cars have only been around for a short time. Nearly all of us have driven cars without these controls. Just don't get crazy (as is the best advice in all conditions). If the EBCM is the problem, your ABS won't work and your Traction Control won't work. If you're a racer, then you turn off the TC anyway and ABS is to help in stopping a bit faster without locking up the wheels. You can get along just fine without either one. Hopefully, it's something simple and rest assured, there are many generous people here in the the forum willing to help. I love this place. We all love our rides and want to help you with yours as well. Keep us informed of the codes and we'll go from there.
I had this warning show up on my 99 last year after a 140mph pull on a dyno. I pulled codes, cleared codes, checked grounds, disconnected the battery and cleaned connections and the warning have not come back since. Sometimes the warnings don't mean something is broken.
Interesting - Yesterday I drove a relatively short distance to show my Vette to a relative. BTW, I've had it only 10 days. Yes, it is a 2001.
I had the car totally checked out - drivetrain, brakes, clutch, coolant, etc. before I bought it and all checked just fine. I got the car with new tires, new battery and fresh oil change.
Anyway, I've had no service displays as previously mentioned; no problems at all. I demonstrated the telescoping steering wheel and showed the rest of the car. Soon after, I started up the car to leave and that's when I got all the service displays and amber dash lights. Hmmmm. Another thing, my tire TPMS sensors do not register/display any tire PSI on the DIC. Hmmmm again!
I had the same issue once, plus, I couldn't lock the doors with the buttons or lower the windows. Check the connector in the driver's side door in the accordion like cover. You should be able to pull it back to check the connector. Seems if the connection is intermittent, it causes problems with the data buss that passes through there and confuses the bcm.
The bad news is if you have a 1997-2000, Maybe 1999 there is no fix if it is the EBCM. GM don't make them anylonger and they can't be fixed.
Your profile says 2001, You can send it to ABSFIXER and I think it is around 160.
Mine's a 99 and I know that the EBCM is shot. I can deal with clearing the messages on the DIC every time I start the car (push reset 4 times), but is there any way to make the yellow "traction control" and "ABS" lights go off. Is there a fuse or a connector or what?
I have a 2001 also. Had the same thing show up. Cleared the codes and have not had anything come back yet over the last year and everything works fine. Hopefully it was just a hicup like mine was. If not follow 8VETTE7, he knows what he is talking about.
Hey Everyone - Thanks again for your hospitality and great suggestions! Appreciate it!
Weird, I guess. Started up the Vette this morning - NO idiot lights/service warnings on the dash. I drove it around for 15 minutes - all good. Came home, shut it off, started it back up again, NO idiot lights/service warnings on the dash. Who knows.
Mine would come and go at first. Now the message is constant and I need to find out exactly what the problem is. But until then, I hit reset three times and only the yellow instrument gauge warning stays on.
And it drives like everything is still working.......or I've just become better at not losing it.

You still haven't pulled and posted the codes so I guess you don't care to know what was going on.... I guess what they say is true. Ignorance is bliss.
Maybe he doesn't realize that the codes are still there even though the behavior has stopped for the time being? Just playing devils advocate.
No, I'm not ignorant. I don't need degrading comments, thank you very much! I haven't had the time to pull the codes yet. I will today. Yes, I care about my Vette. How was I driving? I was driving conservatively. I'm not a racer.
