Is anyone familiar with the type of car cover, or should I say car enclosure, where you drive onto its base, then zipper-close the cover to completely encapsulate the car within?
Any type of cover of closure that allows moisture to get under it will trap it under the cover as the moisture evaporates and will cause any unpainted metal such as nuts and bolts to rust.Bought a 78 with 8K miles on it years ago that had been kept under a water proof covor and all the non painted metal under the hood had rust spots on it. This car had never been driven in the rain.

Tell me about it- I'm getting sick.
Got a 75 last week and it's been in the driveway because the garage is full, and it's been dry the last couple of days, but last night it rained like heck and this morning the car was drenched AND it's under a cover.
There's a place locally that has good ones. I'll find their url and post it. They're made more for winters in the NE but.... in the mean time if you google: portable garage
you'll see a TON of 'em

Thanks. I found the "portable garages" aren't suited for a driveway application- or at least not in my case. They're more for a larger, out of the way area on the property. I was thinking of a wrap around car cover: drive on and zip it up, thus surrounding the car.
You mentioned a lift in the garage. That is your best bet if you have room. The portable garages wont last long. A lift is one and done. I do that and it works great for me.

I have some tweaking to do, and it'll be a tight fit, but it's doable. The lift is the best of a lot of worlds. Plus I can work on the cars like a gentleman. As that crusty cantankerous Sgt. in Bill Murray's Stripes said, "I'm getting too old for this chit".

It makes a huge difference when doing maintenance. My garage has 10' ceilings and I can walk under the Vettes. I can stand up between the ramps under the Malibu. I can sit up on a rolling mechanics chair between the ramps under my truck. Even the chair under the truck is a huge improvement. It is one of the best investments I ever made. And all 4 fit in a 3 car garage.
