Car Wrap question
I am wondering if there is any disadvantages or advantages over getting it painted?
Also, will a wrap chip like paint? Or is it more likely to tear?
Any ideas and comments would be appreciated
When you get tired of it, just remove it.
It preserves your original paint.
I can't really think of any disadvantages. It does require a little more care than paint. I doubt any of use automatic car washes to begin with, but those are definitely out.
I use these products for wrap care, and recommend them to all my customers.

I would imagine that some are going to chime in, with the Plasti Dip stuff, but I have no experience with that.
It is very durable. Very similar to paint as far as wear goes. You can buff out light scratches. Another advantage is if it does tear, you can just have that panel re-wrapped. Can't do that with paint.
It will chip just like paint and much easier. Matte films are more work to take care of. Matte white in particular. Avery, Oracal, Hexis and 3M are the big boys and all have unique colors.
For the money its a quick easy way to do a color change or add accents. In the long run its just a big sticker that will break down over time and need to be replaced. Most have 5-10 year warranties on vertical panels and none on horizontal panels. It does not shine like paint but does look good when installed right.
Matte White with Gloss Black Accents. Car is a platinum color stock.
I have a black car but was thinking about going to matte black, but i also thought it would be easier to care for not harder
Did they choose the wrong supplier? Maybe - - but it was a headache- at least in the Arizona sun. Point is- I think there are good stories and some not so good ones out there - - pick your provider carefully.
