dye the top?

Default dye the top?
I have a 2000 vert with the origional top. The top has been down more than up always. Thus the top is fine except where it rubbed in spots while down. have any of you guys ever dyed the top? the places it shows poorly are only in a few spots but it bothers me when it is up.
