Can someone snap a picture of the battery setup on a C5? Specifically the bolts that tighten the cables to the terminals. When I put my car in storage I removed these and brought my battery in the house to trickle charge. Well, I forgot where I put the bolts. All I remember is one was a chrome bolt and one was a longer gold bolt that threaded into the battery on one side and on the other side it had a nut with more thread.
I am taking my car out of storage this weekend and I need to put the battery back in the car. The car is in a remote location and the nearest auto parts store is kind of far so Id like to head up with the proper bolts to hook the battery up.
The "chrome bolt" should be in the part of the cable that screws in to the battery. You shouldn't have taken that out of the cable, in fact it's a real pain in the a$$ to get it out of the cover. The gold bolt with the long stud is for hooking up a aftermarket radio and amp and you can find that at any pep boys or autozone. I can take a picture if you still need one when I go out for lunch.
Side post battery bolts can be found at any auto parts store, including ones that allow you to mount fixed trickle chargers (the longer ones with a nut). The originals are held "captive" in the cable insulator at the battery. Someone must have removed the retainer, but that removal has no affect on function. It will just allow the bolt to be removed or dropped more easily. I bought a pair of auto store side post bolts so I can hook up a charger whenever the battery is removed from the car. Be happy, don't worry. Sam
