These "what's a good replacement shifter" questions show up just like clockwork. There's always a lot of opinions on which is better. Hopefully it would not be considered a hijack to get a few opinions on what is so deficient about the stock shifter?

My opinion
1) Stock C5 Handle is to Long plus anything that Has a Demon Key has to go LOL
2) I Have tried all these shifters Mentioned and did not like them all that much to me, all they did is re-made with Alum. Handles and SHC Screws, Some thought was put into re-making these but not much was life changeing.
3) In early 2009 I bought and Modded a C6Z06 Shifter I like the slight bend in the handle but will not put a C6 **** in my Car as it is a C5. I made my own Shift **** out of Alum then had it coated with Nickel Plating. The C6Z06 Box is made with better guides then the C5 and just newer I have spent many hrs. engineering on Cad and cant make the throw shorter as GM sets the throw inside the transmission shift gate. When you cut the handle down it doesn't make the throw any shorter at all. To change the throw you have to change the fulcrum of the Handle and the length of the shift gate. So for me the best is to upgrade to a modded C6Z06 shifter for me having the handle 1" shorter is that my arm and hand sit level on my armrest when I shift thur the GEARS.

I have seen a lot of very positive posts on the MGW shifter. The C6 Z06 shifter is another one to consider.
