Thanks for all the help, and I am aware of the tire thing having a fun car that I don't drive much. FYI I"m in Colorado and took the Porsche out for its first "spin" of the season. Fun, but still love the idea of owning a Vette. Be back soon.
A lot of us just love cars so tell us about the Porsche.
I just bought a 2003 Coupe with 27000 on it, I paid 21400. I did a ton of research (alot on this forum). I went to Autotrader,Carguru and a number of other sites. What amazed me was how many dealers don't have a comprehensive list of the cars options. They say loaded and might mention HUD, whether it a manual or auto and leather. My car had about 6000 dollars worth of options on it but cars with very few options were selliing for the same price. Since winter is ending prices will start going up now. From what I saw looking at 100s of listings you should be able to get the car you are looking for near the 20000 dollar mark. If you want under 30000 miles I would say under 22000 for later C5s.
The information these members gave you is priceless. Learn as much as you can about the car market and the car. Good Luck. You will love the C5.
Do what I did and read all you can on this forum. After I sold my 96 I think I spent two years reading up and looking for the right one. When you find it you will know. C5s are great cars fun to drive and get great mileage if you control yourself. Excellent for long road trips and not half as tiring as driveing the C4.

My car is a '79 911 SC Coupe with the genuine Turbo tail, so it kinda looks like a '76 Turbo. I got it in '89 and have had it ever since. It's fully loaded with power everything, AC and cruise. I think it had some suspension mods, at least my mechanic thinks so, as it is very streetable but runs on the track like a race car. The pluses are it has been very reliable overall, it's fun to drive, it fits like a glove and it handles like a slot car. The negatives are the tranny. Worst transmission of any car I've ever driven, and all is normal for that car.
My 442 was not the greatest car in the world, but I miss the rumble and the power. At that time my neighbor bought a C3 and let me drive it. Very "manly" and fun to drive and the memory still lingers. I need to drive a few and make a decision. While the C3 would be fun and bring back a lot of memories, I think a C5 would probably be more in line with my Porsche, as least handling wise. I would bet even though they are different, I wouldn't miss the Porsche at all with a C5 (or C6) in the driveway. :-)
Well if your Porsche has had suspension work you may be disappointed in a base C5. That is what I have and it wallows in corners like a 59 Cadillac in my opinion.
Some time this year I'm going to upgrade to coilovers and some new sway bars. I would really like it to handle like a sports car is supposed to.

A 59 Cadillac, That is funny there, I have a 2002 coupe with non run flats, Stock shocks, Lowered and it handles like it is on rails, I do have Z51, But that is it, I love the way it handles the corners.

It seems to do okay to a certain point in a corner and then it just wallows if you push it any harder. To me the body lean is not acceptable when it gets that point either.
And my setup is the same as yours except for the Z51.
