New Tranmission?
Thought I had fixed it a while back, seemed to go away.
I'm going to try a few things first before I just go get a new transmisison, such as new fluid, shifter alignment, things like that. Probably drain the fluids and such, make sure no air pockets got in there.
But, just in case this does not completely solve the problem, I'm thinking that I'll probably end up buying a new transmission. My gears shift hard. I'm scared half the time to let off the clutch during spirited driving because of fear of dropping the trans.
I would rather just get a new one and be done with it.
So, I was looking at RPM transmisisons, and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them? Or, if not, who would you recommend? I think that more than 1 of my synchros may be gone, and I know they're expensive to replace, and might as well do them all if they're going to do 3-4 of themem; and at that price, might as well get a new transmission I figure.
Thanks for everyone who helps out!
Give them a call, you can't go wrong with them.
to respond to everyone :
@fourg63, I figured basically right around what you said, 700 for parts, and the labor will probably be at least another 700. I heard they're super expensive to replace becuase they're tough to do. I could be wrong through of course.
@Ren, RPM has a few options in the low to high 2k range. I figure for this price, it's not a bad idea to just go ahead and ge the new one as I'll probably be spending close to that just replacing the syncrhos.
@Edmond, Thanks for the reponse! I am planning on staying N/A, but adding as much power as possible while doing so. I think the RPM IV would be a good fit for me if I go that route. if you wouldn't mind, could you PM with details of cost? Once again, only if you wouldn't mind.
I appreciate all the help so far guys!
I got the Level IV and upgraded to bronze fork pads. Now keep in mind this was years ago but I think I ended up spending about $2200 or so delivered to the FedEx hub about 1 hour away and I went to pick it up.

This is the way I look at it:
Whether you put a stock rebuilt or a performance built trans in there is the same labor. Dropping the trans and putting it back up is the same work.
So why not put something heavier duty in there so you have options down the line when it comes to power additions.
BTW, it's also a great time to do your clutch/FW/PP, speed bleeder for the clutch, torque tube couplers, headers and clutch cylinder. Also, since you have to remove the shifter, this is also a great time to do that as well if you don't like the factory shifter.
It's also time to upgrade to ARP hardware for the clutch/FW/PP as well as header studs if you end up doing headers.
Premium synthetic fluids in the trans/differential are a must at this point as well, IMO.
If you don't have a shop manual, now is the time to get one. Best $250 you will ever spend.
As you can see, the work can build up but if you can afford to have the car down and take your time doing it yourself, you will learn a lot about the car and take pride in having done it yourself as well as save a lot of $$$

Trans was $2800, and that is dirt cheap to handle 700hp all day long!

I think the price is good too, to be honest.
I guess now I'll have to start saving up over the summer for the long list of mods coming its way!
Btw, notice anything drastic with the cam/intake added?
Awesome!

except for this post above. That is an absolute steal. But it sounds to me like you have a manual.

Is level 6 just auto?

And just wondering, what makes you say that RPM is a weaker transmission?

I wasn't actually going to buy a new OEM transmission, was going to by a new trans. from RPM.
