I have a 1998 C-5 Rdstr, and I'm thinking of purchasing a wind screen. Are they really worth the money or do you still get turbulences inside the cab? Also what about storage. Can you have the soft top up with the screen still installed? Appreciate any info.
Stay away from 'Wind Restrictor' brand unless you have a pile of money to waste. Mine does not do a thing for turbulance inside. I kinda thought it looked cool to begin with but every time I look at it I get pissed because of the money I could have put towards something usefull. Mine isn't lighted or anything, just plain. It does kinda keep the rear window protector from flopping around when I'm driving with the top up and the windows down, if that's of any importance to you.
I don't have a 'vert, so cannot vouch for the quality or functionality of the many wind restrictors, but this is a link to a version that you do not have to remove when you put the top up. Maybe some members on this forum have first hand experience with this product?
I have a vet net cuts down on about 75% of the wind I got it on fleabay for $140.00
I'm glad I got it Brand new they are a little spendy I would check around for a used one
It lays nice and flat in the trunk and normally come with a cover to protect it
I own a 2004 vert and to be honest, I enjoy the windows down air flow. That's the fun of driving a convertible. If I have a long drive on the expressway, I usually put the top up and enjoy the stereo.
In contrast, I pulled up next to a late model Mercedes convertible where the driver had a similar air net installed and had his two side windows up. Sort of defeats the purpose IMO.
I sold one to a member and had to return his money because the best shipping price I got with a bos for it was about 140.00. If you are near northern calif. I can make you a good deal. Vettnett
I have a Windrestrictor and I haven't had to roll up the windows with the top down since I got it. I can wear a flat cap without it pulled down over my ears too, not much hair to keep it on either
Edit: It stays in the car year round, doesn't need removed to put the top up. It might get in the way if you store things on the tray.

Convertible driving is like anything else - everyone has their preferences. The Vette Net works. It cuts down on the turbulence. It is some work to install and remove so likely it is too much hassle for every time you drive. I use mine on long trips and cruises, but it really is a convenience - the car is still loads of fun without it.
