Need Opinion--Glass Top sell or keep
I have an '04 coupe that I bought used and it came with both the glass top and the painted top. I've tried both on the car and found that I enjoy having the painted top much better. I don't plan to use the glass one at all, and have wrapped it up and put it in my garage rafters.
I've seen them for sale on the forum and elsewhere for hundreds of dollars (whether or not they sold at those prices I don't know). But it got me wondering if I am better to sell the glass top and use the money for other mods, or if I should hang on to it for better resale should I choose to sell the car in a few years down the road?
Thoughts?

I sold my glass top because like you I never used it, I think in the 6 years of owning the car I used it maybe 3 days total and knew I would never use it, I like the looks of the C5 with the painted top much better than the tinted one.

If you really do not feel you are going to use it, I'd sell it - should bring $400-600 depending on condition. I only have the glass top on my current car, but I had both tops on my '99. Used the glass on probably 99% of the time on that car.

I have both, like the looks of both and use both! Summertime, body color, spring and fall glass. For me, I find it provides a sense of variety in looks as well as a "freshness" throughout the year. With a white Vette, it really stands out, the black contrast. Then again, I do the same thing with the front "bra". Doing a "mix and match" routine throughout the year.

I to have both tops for my 04. Used the body colored one once and put it away. I prefer the lexan for both the head room and looking threw it. My vette is black so it looks the same either way.

I like having both the solid and clear tops. The solid top is great in the summer to keep the interior cooler especially in a Black Vette with Black interior. Using a lexan top year round will eventually cause the coating to delaminate. Being able to switch tops, especially during the summer will increase the life of the lexan top. Since my car is black you really can't tell which one is on.

I had the "glass" top. Living in Hawaii it made no sense. Too hot. I painted it black to match the car. Looks better and keeps the inside a tad cooler. If I wanna see the sky I remove and store it in the "trunk".

Glass top in the winter, solid roof in the summer...love them both.
If you can sell it locally- tough to pack and expensive to ship- i guess the choice is yours.
FWIW, if it came on the car, for the dough you'd get, I'd keep it.

All I have ever used for 13 years is the glass top - never take it off - even bought a spare just in case.

I have both tops. The first few years and changed them up. The clear top is nice but like a sauna in the summer. I haven't used the clear top in at least 10 years. I like the look of the torch top better.. the clear top on the car gives it a slightly European look. The Torch top gives it more of an American look. I'll keep both tops even though I may never use the clear one again.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Didn't think I would generate as much interest in a single day.
Ultimately I see it comes down to personal preference, so I'll probably give it some more thought and make a decision that is right for me.
I think I would get more for it now as an individual piece, than what it would give me in resale value along with the car down the road.

What I would not do is sell the painted one - seems those are a lot harder to come by. Mine came with both - I use the "clear" one most of the time - just July-August I use the painted one.
Big picture just depends how much $500 more dollars in your pocket would change things for you.

I would like to trade my Lexan top for a nice exhaust like GHL Bullets or similar. I never use it as it is too hot in summer and too cold in winter. The most use I would ever get is a little in spring or fall. Besides, I like the look of the painted top sooooo much better! My car is black, but I can still see the difference between them on the car.
Like others have said though, shipping would be very expensive.
