Default Leaky rear end

Hi guys
I'm still kind of a newbie to Vettes and have a question.
I have a 98 coupe with 65k. I have a small leak oil leak coming from my rear end housing and plan to get it fixed soon. My question is, although it isn't slipping, should I go ahead and have the clutch done at the same time sine the rear end will be torn apart?
Thanks in advance

From your description, the repair you need is a rear axle seal. Unfortunately, this problem is a known issue with C5's. To get to the clutch, there is actually a lot more work unless the plan is to remove the rear suspension cradle.

I recommend taking your car to A&A Corvette in Oxnard. Although they are a performance shop, this is a repair they can definitely do and it will be done right. The mechanic there Jesse, is a technician-genius.

I'm just down the road from you near the LA/Ventura county boarder.

If it is the axle seal that is leaking the repair can be done without dropping the rear rear cradle or removing the differential.

It can be done with differential in place.

Hell no, don't do the clutch intill you need to. That is alot of work. You can do the axle seals while everything is still under the car. You won't even have to drop the cat back exhaust.

Axle seals are like $15.00. 30 pack of aldult bevreage for you andd a helper $25.00. Up close and personal time with your vette priceless.

You know you can also put a jack under the tranny and seperate the rear end and drop the whole craddle to do a very in depth cleaning and repair.

Thanks but this is more than I've ever done. I'll have to use a shop I guess. Much appreciated though
