This is what mine looked like with white letter tires. I used a white tire paint pen. It faded and started to flake off quickly though so I removed it and never redid it. Those cars pictured already look like they used a stencil and spray paint. They look pretty cool too, imo at least.

The large white letters to imitate race cars, on the street really.......... Compensating for something maybe? Not a fan of "rice" ..

I also came from an era when the white letters were popular.
I only had them on a couple of cars, and usually mounted the tires with the blackwall out.
I have used the paint pens/sticks with good results. The last time I used one was to paint the white letters black.
The only white letters that I had that I actually liked were my M&H Racemasters for my street tires on my '69 Firebird with a 462" motor.
The bow on the hood of the Z28 in the background was because that car was my wife's birthday present to me.
