I did a search on tire sizes and all i can find are where people ask about what size tires they can put on ZO6 rims. I have the original thinspoke rims that came on the car and am wanting to get new tires but i dont want the run flats. my question is whith the original rims w/ original width's whats the widest tire I can get on the back? I cant afford new rims right now so I figure i'll just go with the widest i can put on the originals and then when i can afford some new rims ill get some that will hold a 315 or more. thanks

Try checking on the Tire Rack web site - they show the specs on all of the tires they carry, including what rim width each one is recommended for. Usually it is a range like 9-10.5" rim width or so.
The stock size wheels on the C5 were 17x8.5" on the front and 18x9.5" on the back. 275/40/18 were stock rear size but you can get a 295 on the 9.5" wheel. I've heard of a few get the 305s on it, but have never seen one and have heard it looks funny. The Z06 wheels are the 10.5" width, and you can get the 315s and sometimes slightly bigger on them. Hope this helps.
A combination that I like is 255/45/17 front and 285/40/18 rear. These size tires fit either the base or the Z06 size wheels and keep the front to back stagger so the AH/TC is happy.
