Well it's the first day I decided to drive the Vett to work and as I was almost there the weld on the flange at the rear of the H pipe let go.
It was a clean break right where the weld is. I had it break in the same place 2 years ago and had a shop where I live weld it back on and no problems till this morning. It was hard to tell it broke because I have Bullets on and they are stright pipes so it was only a little louder. But definitely had a different sound.
To make a long story short I took it to Monroe because they are about 1/2 mile from my work place.
They seem to think they can weld it back on and have it ready by 3:00pm.
There was a guy last year selling an H pipe for $150 I think. I thought about buying it. Probably should have.
Anyone else have this happen?
Had this happen to me a couple of years ago. Performed a search. Found the OEM h-pipe was common for this weld to fail. Replace it with an x-pipe and never looked back.
It happened to me before. I just welded mine and it lasted years. However I replaced mine with a x pipe this winter when I installed my LG long tubes. I still have my factory h pipe if your ever in the Boston area.
