All my cars are garage kept with covers for just that reason. I just use cheap ones from Pep Boys or other sources for about $40. I lay a blanket over it where people may walk and bump or drop something on a hood or fender. Inside I prefer ones without the mirror pockets. I bought one with pockets for the C5 for overnight road trips. It is difficult to get it over the mirrors. I usually just fold in one mirror to make it easier to put on unless there would be a really stiff wind.
The paint on the C5 is very hard so I would not be worried about a cheap cover sratching in the garage where there is no wind. If you are concerned then you can get better quality ones from the major Corvette vendors for about $80. Still recommend no mirror pockets for indoor use.

I bought an indoor car cover from West Coast Corvettes right after I bought my car in 2009. Has done a good job keeping the dust off the car (car is always garaged) and was right at $100 on sale. I think it was called Intro-Guard or something like that.
