Alright I'm still working on getting the bugs worked out on this however my front speakers don't work in the car. The car has an after market deck in it however the rear speakers sound terrible and I'm getting no sound from the front. Is it uncommon for them to just stop working? Do they have a fuse?
If it's not a fade setting, you may have wiring issues (wires not hooked up properly or came loose), or possibly bad channels on the head unit or amp. I don't think the individual speakers are fused. I think the amp is fused, and the whole head unit is fused.
did the front speakers ever work with the head unit? Or did they just stop working recently. Are there any speakers in the doors, and are they stock Bose
if the rear speakers are stock, they wont sound good unless a GM harness modification is used with the head unit. Are the rear speakers stock?
Do you also have an aftwrmarket amp? Usually the rear speakers are wired directly into the HU and the door and any sub is wired through the amp. If the amp blows, you only get sound through the rear speakers. That's what happened to me with my first amp.
Nope never worked since I got the car. I figured it would be an amp issue... Where is the amp located on these. And no it's not a fade issue. Haha I was sure to check that. All speakers are factory
When using an after market HU and factory front speakers with factory amp you need an interface for it to work.

There is a harness that it is required if you swap out the HU and maintain the factory speakers.
I swapped out my HU, installed aftermarket door speakers and rear trunk sub and also installed an aftermarket amp so I didn't need the harness. The only "Bose" I have left in my car are the two speaker grill logos.
...and I plan to replace those once I decide on a better replacement to cover the grill indentations.
So if I purchase new speakers for front and rear will I need the harness? Or do I have to replace the amp as well. Also where is
The factory amp located

Not sure where the amp is located, If you install new speakers you will also have to run new speaker wires from speakers to unit, Can't use the front factory wiring.

I believe the Bose system utilizes on speaker amps for the front door speakers and the rear speakers route through a separate amp under the dash behind the A/C controls.
If you decide to keep the factory Bose speaker systems and just use a new HU, you will need to pull out the HU and install the harness mentioned earlier.
I was never really happy with the stock Bose speaker sound so it was an easy decision for me to swap our the entire speaker/amp system when I installed my new NAV DD Head Unit.
The C5 Bose system is not like what was used in the C4.
The front twidlers and rear speakers are powered from the amp in the radio. Thers is a signal processor under the dash on the drivers side. The subs in the doors each have an amp.
For the OP, your best bet with an unknown install like you have is to take it apart documenting how it is put together. I would set the radio up on a test bench to make sure it works out side of the car. 80% shot that your issue is bad wiring however, if it is the radio may also be damaged (this could be caused by shorting the speaker outputs together). If the radio checks out put it back together fixing all splices. The best splices are soldered together and have heat shrink tubing over them. But splices are second choice, still use the heat shrink over them.
If it were me, I would be redoing the install. New wires to all speakers not going through the cars wire harness. Only installing front speakers, the ones in back don't sound good. Add a good sub in the back.

My 84 used to have the Bose system before I bought the car. When I got it there was an aftermarket system and the front and rear speakers were wired up to an aftermarket amp. I used the factory wires for the front and tapped into the factory wires in the rear. My rear speakers have sound but my fronts have a faint static. I checked all the settings on the radio. I was hoping you might have an idea what to look for.

That's the way I think it is too. It's been 14 years since I did mine.
There is no fuse on the speaker wiring.
Take a flashlight and look though the speaker grille. You should be able to tell us if there is an aftermarket speaker installed. That will help troubleshoot this problem.
