Default sun visors

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I've been here but can someone really tell me why a sun visor for a '03 Z06 is over $200? That is from the dealer but really? Other than E-bay, which I dislike, does anyone know of a better place to get them?

Thank you.

Corvette Central sell OEM-like visors for much less.

I have a good upholstery guy that can redo them cheaper then the Hondo plus they want for them.. How do you get those friggin visors off? Those caps are impossible to pop off?

Quick question;

The cap, what I believe the screws are under is stuck and awfully difficult to pop off, any tips? I was thinking of spraying it with silicone but I thought that might be a silly idea. Guys on an 2001 convert original part, its probably never been off in the its lifetime. There's got to be a trick to it right before I brake it off! I used skinny screw drivers on both sides gently prying it before I gave up and had a few absolute screwdrivers myself. Not being a pro I gave up and thought to ask the knowledgeable ones here before I damage something. Any tips men, Bill? Thank you. Its greatly appreciated.

Do a search on YouTube for Corvette C5 sun visor. There's a video on there that's pretty helpful. Just replaced mine a few days ago. If you were closer I'd remove it for you in about 3 seconds. It's that easy!

3 seconds! C'm Marv, you've got to be kidding. Lol. I only tried about 30/40 minutes with no success. Alrightithen, I'll do YouTube tomorrow sometime. Right now I'm hungry. I'm going to go out and meet that 40yr old platinum blonde for dinner and if I have any energy left try and water her flowers. Thanks for the tip, I think. Wink. Thank you, have a good evening.

I just replaced both of mine with brand new factory sun visors.. total cost was 120 for the pair. Took me about ten minutes a side. hardest part was getting the plug out of one side.

Wow, I thought $80.00 on fleabay was high, but they're all around the same price.

Thank you for the replies and the Youtube link for removal. I noticed that like everything else on the car, nothing comes off easy. Corvette Central seems the place for me. They even have the window regulator I need to fix the passenger side non-op window.

you would do well to add your location to your profile - -that way, people with knowledge of sourcing new/used parts locally might offer suggestions . . .

Good evening Gentlemen,

OK so after viewing the video, I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went on the drivers side. I was feeling pretty confident until I went over to the passenger side. I got it off alright but the pigtail wire was already broken on the one wire. Reminder it's a new 2001 Convertible to me (60days) and after analyzing further. I could see previous owner had changed that passenger side visor in the past (slightly different color and firmer then the drivers side) and probably stressed it and eventually just broke then. Maybe even when I was trying to maneuver it out. So now I'm really screwed right? I used the old coat hanger trick with a flashlight to work the plug over but its not coming out. Its going to be a few days until I get the visors back from the upholstery guy so I have'm taped up and hanging out as best I could so they don't just disappear down into the trim.

Two quick questions men. 1.) Any suggestions on getting the passenger side plug out, looks like it may be taped up already and short as I can kinda see it from the top of the Vert windshield when standing outside when I'm slightly bending that molding out. Do I have to remove the entire upper interior windshield molding to get to it or will just the side trim expose it? 2.) putting the visors back in, any tricks on doing that or just reverse the taking out process? I heard the guys on the video saying something about getting it back in being another story?

Thanking you in advance. You guys are the best!!

PeterB.

Forget the sun visor. Did you water the flowers?

And on a serious note, I am considering going with the visor-less look. They seem to bump my head more than they do anything worthwhile. Plus, I rarely drive without sunglasses.

I watched the video, was a little scared to really push to hard as the driver was starting to bend....but then I pulled down at the same time and they slowly gave way. Pulling down at the same time was key. Sent them to Dennis at Double D Mods to rebuild. I will try and locate the putter Dennis put on the forum...a real mess.

With a convertible, they're nothing more than a PAI.

I removed mine for the exact reason. I like the look much better, it gives you a much more "open air" feel with the top off.
