Default Wheel Torque Specs-Got a Flat....

Of course, the day after I get my new seats in, I go out to my vette this morning and my passenger side front tire is flat-only has 8 PSI in it.

I'm not even sure if it'll hold enough air to drive it to the shop tomorrow, so I'm thinking of backup plans.

If I have a tow/road side assistance company jack the car up and take the wheel off, when they put the wheel back on, what are the wheel torque specs?

If they won't do that, what should I watch for when they tow the car-because that would be the only other option.

Man I was ticked when I saw this-still had to leave in my brothers car for mothers day brunch.

I'm going outside now to see if the tire will hold air at all.

Not everyone keeps tools around and works on cars themselves. I don't even have a jack. I've never had a flat go this low-ever.

The car was sitting as of 4:00 yesterday and the tire had 8 PSI at 9:00 this morning. That's about 1 PSI per hour that it lost.

I just inflated the tire to 32 PSI and I am going to wait 1 hour and see what the PSI is then.

Having the wheel off the car is a backup plan if the tire doesn't hold air at all, but as of right now, it seems like it will.

You have access to air?
Did you look for a nail? I have plugged a tire while on the car...try spraying a soapy solution on the tire and see where it is leaking from.

I looked a little bit and didn't see anything. I just have a little compressor that connects to the cigarette lighter-that's how I got it up to 32 PSI.

I just made an appointment at the local discount tire for 10:30 tomorrow morning. (They are closed Sunday's but I can make an appointment online).

Give yourself some extra time to get there, air it up higher before you go and monitor the tire pressure sensor while going there. You may have to stop to put in more air along the way.

Good luck!

Well, when I went out there the PSI had only dropped a little bit. I took a flashlight with me and found the nail in the tire-right in the center of the tire. (At least it's not tire or wheel failure) It seems like it loses .75-1 PSI per hour. I have it at 35-40PSI right now and I'll add more air before the end of the day, then add more before I take it in.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I was a little crazy at 1st, because I just had to leave it when I first found out.

I just put the tire at 40 PSI, that way when I'm ready to go tomorrow it will be at about 26-27 PSI, I'll add some air and then go.
