Good Afternoon All
I have been involved in discussion about the key fob losing its programing and not working at all. As a result of trying everything from re-program to battery changes to 'fooling' the system -- nothing worked.
So, I searched for a supplier (not a dealer) that had replacement fobs at a decent price and found 'www.REMOTESandKEYS.com There availability, service and pricing is the best I found and with a one-year warranty, that is the best place to order the older fobs. Since the C5 is now officially the second oldest generation behind C6, the dealers may not even have these key fobs any more anyway!
If you are looking for replacements, try these guys FIRST!
Yes, I got the fobs in three days, programed them yesterday and they still work today. The cost is $115 each including shipping. I have found some for as much a $150 each plus shipping

I also had the keyfob problem and bough a new one from the same supplier and their service was great and it is an exact replacement and did work just fine. I decided to try the soldering trick mentioned in some treads here on the old fob and it WORKED!! The old key now works just fine and so far has not lost its programing. Not hard to solder at all. Just use a small tip and remove the pc board from the rubber buttons that surround it so the board can lay flat and expose the legs on the part that needs soldered.
How do you reprogram a FOB. My FOB went out and I replaced the battery. It still does not work. Tried my spare FOB and it also does not work. I'm now scratching my head.
