Transmission problem.
I have been looking around and talking to a few people but I'd like to get some input from you experts. Car is a 97 A4 with 130k miles. I was driving last night and all of a sudden car did not want to go into third. First, second, park, reverse everything else works perfect and strong. At the shift point from 2 to 3, it doesn't even get into third, just revs up. Tried manual shifting or in D same result. Temps are good, checked all the wires on the outside of the transmission nothing disconnected or burnt. I will be doing a transmission oil change. I think it may be the solenoid? I will try changing that once I get the oil and do both at the same time (hopefully tomorrow) Guys have any input on what else it may be? For now I will try those two since they seem to be the cheaper/easier fix for me at the time. Thank you for your time guys and sorry if this has been asked a thousand times.
