Help: Texas Road Trip...
I'm going solo, and I'm all about 'winging' it, that's typically how 98% of my vacation trips go anyways. It's only a week, possibly squeeze in an extra 2 days if I'm able to. I live in Kansas City, and the route I'm probably going to take is KC to Galveston - Galveston to Corpus - Corpus back to KC (which includes going through San Antonio, Austin, Ft Worth/Dallas). For this trip I'm just focused on seeing the areas mentioned, although I appreciate your opinions of other places, I'll have to save those for another time lol. So, what do ya'll think and what are your opinions while I'm down there?
Also, I wasn't real sure where to post something like this on our forum, so if you have suggestions on that as well, by all means. Thanks in advance!

Having lived in Central Texas all my life I can attest to the quality of the secondary roads that provide great scenery and less traffic hassle as well. Many times the longer "scenic" routes are faster because of the heavy interstate NAFTA traffic commuting between Mexico and points farther north of Texas.
Enjoy your trip, the weather is good for driving at this time of the year, wave when you pass by Sun City.

I know its not much help but those are my findings from the last 3 years. Good luck on your trip.
The Alamo, and swing by the River walk in San Antonio. Stockyards in Ft Worth. What/where else? Any local 'have-to' restaurants? How long could I spend, where? Thanks again!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Besides all of the normal sights, if you go through San Antonio make a stop at Taco Taco. It's awesome and was featured on the Travel Channel. Most of the restaurants on the River Walk are so-so. They are trying to make a buck off tourists so they don't care about repeat business. Take a little drive over to Taco Taco. It's that good.
If you come up through Austin, The Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood is great.
Even better would be taking your Corvette on a blast through the hill country West of the city (that's where we go to play) and stop at Coopers BBQ in Llano. The Hill Country West of Austin offers a lot of twisty roads with light traffic and some key straightaways.
