Default Checkered Flag Missing From Front Emblem

I just noticed the checkered flag is missing from my front emblem. Is it common for this thing to just fall out of the emblem on an 11 year old 90,000 mile car or did someone decide they needed it more than me?

I don't see any pry marks......

Trying to decide if I should feel violated or unlucky......

the whole emblem has been the focus of thieves from time to time but not usually any of the inserts.

Both the front and rear are pricey POS's. Only difference is that the front has prongs (which are really not necessary) and they cost more. Got a set recently for about $180 from one of the supporting vendors ebay site. Removing them is a royal PITA!

Never had the inserts come loose on mine, but you're not the first to report that problem. Good luck either finding someone that has a set of the inserts you can have or in getting a new emblem.

Are they not available from the dealer?

Many vendors carry the replacement emblems and there are some pretty cool custom aftermarket ones as well.

This is what I have left....only one of the black/white has the vinyl and it is used...if you want it send me a $5 bill and I'll get it off to you.

Some of the REDs also have no adhesive or vinyl. These are prototypes and rare as glass hammers!

I removed all my badges except the z06 fender emblems. Corvette badge on the trunk is out of place..big time...plus it says Corvette in the plate filler as well as rear bumper...dont need more than that!

Update: I had a buddy at the dealership hook me up with a new for about $65.00.
Used a hair dyer to remove the old one and the old glue. Clayed, polished, waxed the nose, but haven't installed the new emblem yet.

Went out to run some errands yesterday. Put some stuff in the trunk, I use the rear emblem to close the trunk.

I had to return some items to:
Home Depot
Osh
Lowes

I always park away from the other cars way out at the end of the lot. Nothing to put in or remove from the trunk after the first stop. Finished the errands, went home and parked in my garage.

As I walked by the rear of the car in my garage on my way out to dinner, I noticed the red flag portion of the rear emblem is now missing.

Outside air temp was about 105 F here yesterday.

Coincidence that both front and rear emblems had trouble within a few weeks of each other? Or is there a collector running around?
