I grew up in California. Nobody waved at anyone. They were all to busy in their life. When I moved to Nebraska with my parents in 1996 everyone waves at everyone. Every car you would pass on the highway or back roads had the driver waving at you. At first I thought it was bizarre then I thought how cool it was. It has died off in the bigger cities but you still get all the good ol boys and the country kids that still wave at everyone no matter what they drive. Midwest livin'

It's the same here in rural Colorado. Not so much the women in cars, but the men in pickups pretty much always wave. Just kinda like sayin' howdy to another community member.
Don't see too many 'Vettes around here, but recently there was a C3 in town for a while. Passed him on the road and got the most enthusiastic return wave I have gotten in a long time. I think it made both our days!!!!! For one, just getting to wave at another 'Vette owner. And two, that we both knew and were upholding the tradition!!! It very definitely matters to those who know!!!!
There is a lady in town who owns a yellow C6 vert who is just clueless about everything, including the Corvette brotherhood. She just owns a cool yellow rag-top, she has no clue about 'Vettes. I know this as I have talked to her a number of times. Just so very sad!!!! Oh well, if they don't care, they'll never learn.
The C4 people said the same thing about the C5 people when it came out. The C6 people will say the same thing about the c7 when is out.
I recall the days of the "C5 Snub" when I still had my 87.
There are those that appreciate the cars they drive and there are those that just drive the newest thing out there. I went to Indiana about a month back in my G8 GT to get seats for my C5. Got a wave from a fellow G8 GT owner. Found him on the G8 board. Loves the cars and is involved in G8 gatherings as much as those who love Vettes. I always wave no matter the year of Vette..... and now G8
I will also pull the multi function stalk a few times which also is considered a wave. its more noticeable but you need to have fog lights.
I agree, with todays large divided highways, not always easy to see or throw back a wave. I always wave when driving topless .. , but with the top on(AC Feel good!) And these larger highways and Byways , I flick on and off the Fogs...... , usally don't get a return salute, but.... I think the recipient appreciates it..., Hope so.. The Tradtion goes back to the early, early days...., So Let's Save the Wave!

I wasn't going to reply in this thread, until today. I just came back from a nice cruise through town and I saw a black c6 convertible trying it's hardest to snake around cars just so he could get up next to me. Not being very many Corvettes where I live I thought he just wanted to chat or something, but no, after making it a point to play pac-man with everyone to get up to me he just puts his head back and passes me without making any notice while I'm waving like an idiot lol it was some steroid infested looking guy with his girlfriend
So I bought my Vette just this past January and iff possible I do wave to every Vette that I see. Honestly if I see one too late and didn't have a chance to wave to them I actually feel bad! I have had Vettes come up from behind and pass me and I will try to catch up to them just so I can give them a wave. The thing that has irritated me lately though is that I will come up on another Corvette and it will be a woman driving. No big deal I give them a friendly wave and I have had them look the other way (pretending to have not seen it) all they way to 1 lady who rolled up her window and took off! Geez I am only giving them a Corvette wave not saying that I want to date them or anything! So ya I just want to know what's up with the women Vette owners or are the ones that I have been coming across lately have they been driving their boyfriends Vette.....If so GIVE IT BACK TO YOUR BOYFRIEND
I don't wave.. Have a hard time driving the thing with two hands let alone one.
Are you physically disabled, or is there something wrong or broken with your car?
Driving at 25 mph or 40 mph is no different in a 160 HP Honda Civic or a 600 HP Corvette, unless your car is in disrepair, and it doesn't steer correctly.
Have to agree with the Evil-Twin, he hit it right on the head; we've got this younger generation buying these C6's and most of them have their head up their a@@. I'm still waving and most of the time receive waves from the C5 generation on down. Hey, if you don't wave back then go trade your car in and go get that Mustang you've always wanted. HaHa
I get the wave a lot from C5 owners but not C6'ers.

Unfortunately I agree, a different mindset it seems, I don't know. Too good for us I guess, lol
