Sorry Man
I have a TR coupe as well, but those wheels look like crap in black.

I had to do something about the chrome flaking. I have brand new tyres so new wheels once the tyres are dead

Beats flakey chrome wheels though for sure!

The black wheels, need something. I understand new tires and not enough money for new wheels, but they do take away from the car.
Possibly a red stripe might help. It does need something, not sure a set of chrome center caps would work, but you can get a set cheaply off eBay.

Not quite my style. I just like the red and black contrast.

Whatever makes you happy. I would agree that the black sure beats a flaking set of chrome wheels.

Looks mean. I like the TR/Black contrast especially with the halo.

And it definitely beats the flaking.

The plastidip to cover over the peeling chrome is a good idea, but I like jcsperson's idea to try the silver metalizer plastidip over the black. It would add some definition to the wheel to make it stand out better.

Maybe it's my eyes that are the problem but most black wheels just disappear into the wheel well.

Im going to give it look. So far I've got a lot of compliments on the street. It looks pretty mean.

I just did this to my stock z's. It looks better in person than in the pictures and I wasn't a black wheel guy. You made the right choice. That's the only way to make wagon wheels look cool.

You should consider painting your calipers.
