10% tire difference.
I know the recommended difference is 7% between front and rear.
Has anyone tried a 10% difference?
My wheels came on my car and I don't want to replace them.
The tires I want to run result in a 10% difference.
295/35/20 and 265/35/18's

Will a 295/35-20 even fit in our rear fender and allow for any suspension travel? I've never seen a 35-series tire attempted on a 20" rim before. I think most run 25 or maybe 30 at most.

With a 2" difference in front and rear wheel diameters, there are two things you should do:
1) run a larger aspect ratio in front than the rear (e.g. 35 front with 30 rear; or 30 front with 25 rear). This is absolutely necessary.
2) run the tire widths as close as possible front to rear (e.g. 285 on both front and rear; or 285 front with 295 rear; or 275 front with 285 rear).

wow, 28"+ tire. Stock is like 26"
I know guys run that big for DRs just for the track, but I'd be curious how it works as a daily.

if I go down in back, I am going down same amount in front.
Tire size is irrelevant. I am asking about the 10% difference over 7% difference.
295/30-20 and 265/30-18
or
295/25-20 and 265/25-18
are also a 10% difference.
295/25-20 and 265/30-18 is 5% difference and not relevant to what I asked.
I know those will work, so I did not bother asking.

You can put Conestoga wagon wheels on it for all I care, but almost nobody has a 2" different diameter wheels; so there won't be any answers to your specific questions.

if tires were not $1500 I would just try it.
I am really surprised no one has tried that that much difference when racing.
I think my Camaro had like 6 inches difference. 31" in rear and 24" or 25" in front

As
MawneeC5 has already stated, serious drag racers routinely run a significantly staggered setup for the track. But they don't use 20" wheels. And they typically swap out their DRs for street driving.

I will try it unless someone can give me a good reason as to why the traction control can not be tweak to account for the difference or be disabled.
Traction control is just irritating anyway.

ABS is a lot harder to deal with....
What are some of the drag racers doing?
I have seen them run a larger difference.
Wish the previous owner would have bought 20's and 19's instead of 20's and 18's

it's going to greatly effect handling. putting the rear that much higher will shift weight forward and off the rear.
in other words oversteer city

as a drag racer, why are you fiddling around with 20s?
