Yes, I got mine unlocked!!!
I called Richard, ON A SATURDAY!! Memorial Day Weekend and he was there!!!
I highly recommend anyone with a C5 to put this little gem in before you get stranded & have to get towed home (like I did).
Richard walked me thru it step by step, was very patient with questions or concerns I had and was extremely knowledgeable with what I was experiencing even without ever seeing the car. I could tell after talking to him that he has been thru this quite a few times.
^5 to Richard at Complianceparts.com!!!!!
Richard's customer service is unbelievable! He also returned my call on a Sunday just 15 minutes after I left him a voice msg., he also called on another Saturday to help with an issue with the LMC5 I was having on my son's Z.
I had just installed the regular LMC5 on 2-'02 Z06's., on the 1st. install everything work as it should, no more issues at all, however on the 2nd install, after a few starts & stops, the "pull key..." msg. began
to appear, that when I call Rich. on a Sunday, he shipped me the 5 wire version and problem is now solved, great product!
I get the pull key message every once in a great while, but that's no biggie. I turn off the ignition, turn it back on, see the CORVETTE logo and it works again.
Mine is a '98 (sold in late '97) and Richard told me it might do this. But, as it is working fine and all I have to do is turn the key off & on again, Im not gonna mess with it.

My son's '02Z had the same scenario with the 4 wire LMC5, get Richard to send you the 5 wire version and the problem will be gone.
I believe that the older threads state that the recall doesn't truly fix the issue and leaves you vulnerable to having a top speed of 2 mph. Not what we bought our C5s for.

Reason: typo
I have a friend that just bought a C5 and advised her to buy the kit and I would install it. She has a 2000 automatic C5 but the strange thing is her steering wheel will not locked with or without the key. I thought I read somewhere that said this means a colum lock or LMC5 has already been installed. I could check it myself but if I can avoid working on the car in 102 degree heat I will.
I know this is an old thread but was looking for the solution to this issue as my wheel locked and would not unlock. I used the LMC5 unlocker kit and it didn't work the first time. I completed the installation of the LMC5 and still the wheel was locked. I reread the instructions and they clearly state disconnect the negative terminal only. You must keep the positive terminal connected when attempting the unlock procedure. It worked like a charm. You can hear the solenoid disengage immediately.
