New Shift ****!....and Console Peeling Problem Question :(
Today I got my c6 shift **** in the mail and it mated perfect with my MGW shifter, can't wait to buy their lower box! After installing it I finally realized how bad my console is peeling and that it's time to do something about it. I don't like painting things or wrapping things (nothing wrong with doing it, just not my style) but I noticed that beneath the coating it's just semi gloss black, just like the console lid is. Has anybody ever just peeled the coating off and left it as is?
Here is what I have ... Yes mine has been painted and clear coated and it holds up just fine
With that said I do eat , drink , smoke , or anything like in the car I'm lying maybe drink but there is a cup holder in the back for those ...
James did you do that yourself? What paints did you use?
I am fortunate enough to be friends with Paul Ratliff here in Emory Tx..
He is the painter that won the Good Guys best of show there in Ft Worth this year ...
It's GM torch red with clear coat ... He also done my under hood parts
Funny thing it didn't hardly cost much .....
I took a lot of the coating off mine before I made it a double din.
I think if you could get it all off, you could just amoral it and be fine.
I don't know how you would get it all off.
I actually got a drip of my cologne on it right in front of the shift boot and the rubber disintegrated right off of the console lol. I might buy some cheap cologne? lol

Here's how I did my interior pieces - Dennis at Double D Mods did the radio bezel and driver knee bolster and my nephew did the rest of the painting. I know my nephew used exterior paint for the pieces he did and I would imagine Dennis did the same. Everything was clear coated and has held up very well.
