I was looking at the popular auction site and saw someone is selling carbon fiber targa tops.
I'm currently in the market for a targa top I recently purchased a coupe with a painted glass top, I'm not necessarily looking for for carbon fiber but for the price it's not bad considering how much the normal tops go for.
My question is has anybody purchased one of these?

This is some kind of a deal. I had one made several years ago and
I paid alot more. And I had to have a donor top. To me it seems
almost to good to be true. I guess I would need more info before
pulling the trigger. It is very labor intensive to make a real carbon
fiber top.
since i don't believe any of our forum vendors sell this type of product, here is the ebay ad info:
C5 targa top. 100% carbon fiber/composite construction. Accepts all original hardware. Hardware in pictures such as latches, weather strip ext. Does not come with the top in this auction. Simply transfer the original hardware from your factory top. Top has molded in drip rails. We accept original factory GM targa tops, any year c4 c5 c6 as cores/trades, please inquire for trade value. If trading in a c5 top we will gladly attach the factory hardware to your new top at no charge.
The top is constructed using a uv resistant gel coat topped with 5 coats of PPG automotive clear coat then wet sanded and polished to a high gloss mirror like finish.
This is not a wrap or overlay made with 100% real carbon fiber. Due to demand allow two weeks for delivery.
looks like good stuff, who will be the guinea pig?

Thanks for posting that its hard to talk about something you can't show.
I would love to be one of the ones to test it out but I just got the car and have a few projects to do before.
how hard is it to transfer the top parts from the donor to the new one?
depends upon whether the manufacturer has properly positioned and drilled the holes . . . from one OEM top to another it's a 15 minute job with hand tools . . .not sure on this until someone can lay hands on it.
Sure looks nice though . . would look awesome on the right color car . . .

Well I have a CF top. at the distance the photo was taken in the
light it is hard to see the CF and my whole top looks like the right
side ---black. The CF shown is alittle too gray, of course it's
probably alright,just me.

Thats only if the mounts are in the top as well...

I believe he is using normal tops just cutting out the glass or fiberglass.
You can send in your old top for a discount and he says he will transfer the latches.
