Well, I've been a long time lurker and have just now turned a member with the purchase of my VERY FIRST CORVETTE! I bought myself a 1997 Corvette coupe with 60k last week and I couldn't be happier. I've always loved Corvettes ever since I saw my first Stingray when I was in elementary school in Seattle, WA. Having a family and living on a military paycheck doesn't leave a lot of room for Corvettes until I found a hell of a good deal in a town called Altavista, VA. The guy was going through some stuff in his life and needed to liquidate and I was glad to help him out. I met him at a bank in Richmond, VA where we made the deal. Like everyone else, I'm running through all the possibilities in my head but for right now, I'm just enjoying life as a new Corvette owner. I've attached some photos of when I bought it at the bank, when I filled up the gas outside Richmond, VA, and it parked in front of my house. On a side note, the white house you see in the photo IS NOT MINE! It's my neighbor who doesn't take care of his home very well...

I too, own a '97 with 60K on it. Had it for six years now. Have only had to deal with the minor issues common to our C5s. Hope yours is a good car as well.

Thanks for all the good wishes, it means a lot. I'm not sure of another community where there is such a sense of cohesion as the Vette community. Of course, I always wave when I see another Vette. I love the wave!

Welcome to the family........nice car, like the aftermarket
exhaust .....I still get just as giddy as my first test drive every
time I sit in the saddle; already 2.5 years after buying my first vette.
