I was heading home this evening after a workout and pulled up behind a guy in a nice black Dodge Challenger who was going a couple of MPH below the speed limit. He had a car full of people. As I pulled up to his left to gradually pass him, he looked over and saw my black Z06. Next thing I know, he floored it and left me in his dust. The last thing I need is to get a ticket for "an illegal speed contest", so I just let him go.

This is my third year driving the Z and it is the first time anything like this has happened to me. I'm kind of surprised it took so long.

Haha, I can't stand tools. Does he REALLY think his 18,000 pound Challenger could come near even a bone stock c5 z06? 95% of all these so called "car enthusiasts" really scare me lol

The "Dodge Boys" haven't learned yet. That pig didn't have anything for you even if he was in the car by himself. You have to remember this is the time of year where if somebody sees you driving a vette, whether its an overstuffed SRT8 Charger to a 90s era Econoline van, somebody always wants to race.

With people like that, it doesn't matter how bad you demolished them, they'll still run off saying "Corvette's are over rated pieces of crap, my car stayed up with it and I was in the wrong gear" just to make them feel better about getting beat by someone in a car 10 years older and 1/2 the price lol.

I have raced these mopars at the track before with my 02 Z and always beat them by a full second or more, they have power but there fat pigs.

Just noticed a new Dodge Challenger parked next to a friends C5..... I mistaked it for a delivery truck it WAS SO HUGE!!!!

It was almost TWICE as big!

I had a 2000 ws6 with only bolt ons and a tune at the time the SRT8 Challengers came out. I was at the drag strip in my old town and got lined up next to one, and beat him by a car. I tried talking to him after the run and wasn't really happy, kind of a douche to me actually lol

This happens almost always for me.. Most times I simply applaud where they can see me... but sometimes....

I too own a 2000 Firehawk... Heads,Cam,FAST 92, bolt ons, Yank 3600 stall... It's pretty damn fast fast especially from a dead stop and up to a 40-50mph roll....

Had a guy in a new 5.slow GT try me in it the other night night... found a road out in Mexico and like your guy.. HE WAS PISSED!! All the way back to civilization he rode my ***... Eventually I pull over and he does a fly by.... Real cool tool!!

We were nowhere near other cars, people,property.... for the record... I would have hated to see his face had I been in my C5Z... suicide may have been an option at that point..

Seems like every time I go out for whatever reason, there are people in everthing from vans to those annoying Hondas, etc. that just have to pass me or take off really quick from adjacent stops at lights. I usually wear a baseball cap so when this happens I just pull it down over my eyes and pretend I don't see them.

depends on where i am but i've only had a z for 3 months and that's happened twice

one was in town, let that idiot go. racing with people on the sidewalk and a 35mph zone is a week in jail and loss of license for a year

It doesnt happen to me very often at all but the last time was almost two months ago and it was a fairly new carrera 4s with an older guy driving it. He flew by me once on the interstate and tried to do it again a few miles later...

Since I had the s/c installed, the only car I fear is a 2007 Ford Focus.









Now I remember why I fear it,,,, it is my wife's car.
