I want to thank all those who share information on the forum. My HVAC blend doors were not working on my 99 coupe. Air was coming from all vents and not changing modes. I searched both the general and tech sites and started diagnosing the problem. I found a worn line under the battery and thought it was an easy fix. Nope. I removed the left front tire, the panel behind it and pulled out the bottom of the fender to get to the canister. I found a crack in the check valve. Off to O'Riely's for a $4.00 check valve and with a $17.00 vacuum tester from Harbor Freight to check all lines my cost to fix the HVAC problem was $21.00.
Thanks to all that contribute tech information.
Jerry
Now you are an authority on this issue...don't forget what has to be done if this problem arises with some other member. We here at the forum will hold you to it. lol Greetings, Rob
After reading everything I could find on both general and tech sites I found the post by speedyz and the accompanying picture of the canister, check valve and where the lines went. A true picture worth a thousand words. At first I couldn't figure how he took the pic. then pulled the bottom of the fender out a bit and there it was! A little tight in there but with the wife holding the fender out just enough I could test and replace the check valve.
I recently replaced the oil pressure sending unit using the info from the Forum also. I did remove and replace the gasket set though. I didn't want to trust 14 year old intake gaskets, they were a little flat looking.
Of course anyone in my area just need to ask and I will be there to help.
Thanks again for the information.
Jerry
