Long time since I've been on or posted anything, but I was hoping you knowledgeable folk could help me out. I drove my C5 up to the Bay Area from San Diego this past week and upon entering Oakland there was a boulder in the freeway from a semi-truck or something that I wasn't able to avoid. I slammed on the brakes but still hit it going about 30 mph. It didn't really mess up anything on the under carriage except for the bar that the front plastic skid guard mounts to. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a replacement piece. Thanks for any links or assistance you can render.

You can get one from a dealer, but you might want to check with either Marc at VetteNuts or Corvette Recycling first. They sell used parts and you might save a lot of $ over a new piece.
I don't know what plastic bar you are referring to but the two skid bars that are under the bumper are metal. They are also part of a whole unit that also mounts your air pump and the radiator. Unfortunately that whole part costs about $300 approx. and you have to remove the front bumper cover and alot of other stuff to change it, possibly even the radiator. If you can live with how the exposed part looks you might want to consider not changing it, unless it is really bad. There is a part called Fangs that cover them. Maybe if you search them they could possobly cover your problem, unless you talking about some other part that got damaged.
It was hard to tell in the parking lot. But it looked like the plastic guard underneath the front bumper is mounted to a metal cross member just in front of the radiator. That was the piece that was bent. I haven't had any heat issues driving yet so I don't know if its detrimental. You can't tell unless you are crawling under the car. Hope this helps.
My front "scrape" shield has been off the car for over a year. Zero issues.
Mine was torn off on the high way, 5am heading into work, didn't see whatever it was I hit until it was too late. Put a nice dent in my long tube as well.
The replacement part is way over priced for what it is IMO, so I left it off.
