C5 vs new Camaro

I've heard a rumor they're going to have the ls7, not sure though. They showed a concept for it at a recent national motor show and the front looks sweet but the rear end reminds me of one of the old honda preludes. Thats what I know so far.

i had a C5,sold it,bought a new camaro ss,hated it and have a C5 again. GM disappointed me with the new camaro. Heavy and very slow. It had no snap at all. I tracked it with bolt ons and the best i could run was a 13.4 at 109. Short time was bad. I have a 99 C5 with a cam and bolt ons that is way more awesome than that pig.

So what if a newer Camaro beats our C5s, both cars are great looking and stood the test of time. After all the Camaro it is modeled after the 69, my frist car was a 68 and would love to have a new one.

I've driven both, C5Z will smoke it all day long in power & handling, the camaro (lowered, cold air intake & complete exhaust) VS C5Z ( vararam, SLP exhaust ) not even in the same league in any aspect. One ride down a winding road, he traded the camaro for a Vette.

Interesting, but really, does it matter? I come across Camaros all the time the couple that I did race got smoked. The rest,I give them a nod, and let them clown if they want to. I stepped up to vette not to worry about any aspect of camaros. That hasn't changed.

Well, I drove a 2013 SS Camaro on Sunday, it was automatic.
A lady I know got it, I just putted it around as it was in her neighborhood, and the speed limit was 25 mph.
I went home and read about that engine the L99, it has varible valve timing which I already thought, but it also has displacement on demand, which GM has renamed Active Fuel Management.
From what I read, it will save you 1 MPG on the hiway, not worth it to me to have all that extra stuff.
Saw what I have heard about these new Camaros having a blind spot compared to C5.
Maybe if I got to tromp it I would have liked the car, but as the way I drove it, I still like my old 1999 C5 better!

See if that Camaro gets the same attention in 14 years that my 14 year old C5 gets every day.
AS far as fast goes, Ive seen 15 year old Honda civics with less than 25K invested that turn 9 seconds in a 1/4 mile.

What is the horse power of the camaro.I ran a 2012 charger R/T its 370 HP my 03 C5 is stock for as I know except the black wing and after market exhaust.I just ran him through a short distance and I miss 2nd gear and still blew his doors of.

It's a CAMARO...Whether it's a ZL1,Z28, or Z-overpriced "Corvette wannabe" it will always play second fiddle to Corvette, no matter what generation it is. If the comparison in drag-strip is keeping you up nights, drop in an LS9 and soundly end the debate.

I think the automatic version L99 engine is 400 HP, 410 TQ, because the auto trans cannot handle more, so it's dialed back.

Mn6 5 gen Camaro is weighing in at 3780+lb without driver. Comes down to hp to weight ratio on which will as well as driver skill.
I still say the C5 will win if both run a set of street slicks at the 1/4 mile track.
I don't think the extra 80 hp will make up the 500 lb difference between the two vehicles
It will take more than that. Either way best way to prove it at the track, let us know!

Yup, Camaro's are becoming a dime a dozen. Also have a Mustang GT vert. But my C5 is the REAL head-turner.

The corvette hands down. When we dyno my 2002 base C5 it was 322rwhp. There were 2 ss Camaros and they both had headers, x pipe, exhaust, tuner, and air intakes. 1 did 343 rwhp and the other did 353. That shows how bad the drive train was made and how much power loss they have. I have beat the SS camaros everything. I have a friend that got one beat he from a dig and roll all 5 times!
