Do you not drive your car with a plate on it for everyone to see?
Never could understand the big deal about a p[late showing, If someone was to get your plate number to steal it, I am sure it would be someone local.

It wouldn't bother me but if it did I would send the seller a note that you are going to report it to EBAY.
I think if the pic is in plublic domain it is free game! Go do a google search for LED halo tail lights and see how many plates you see off this forum....mine is in the top row
The main reason people did it was because people would see your car/mods on the internet then find where you live and steal your mods/car.
My wife and I came out of the local 'Hobby lobby' a couple of weeks ago. I round a row of cars in the lot, and see a kid, maybe 18-20, crouched down, taking pictures of her car. He appeared to be concentrating on the front of the car, where the license plate is located.
I hollered, "Hey, what are you doing"? he mumbled something like, "Nice car", and ran off and hopped into an Escalade, which promptly drove away....

The odds of that happening are almost nil...the real threat comes from someone local to you who spots your car in a Home Depot parking lot and follows you home to know where you live. Now please don't tell me you are going to cover your plate in this situation....
