you have gotten lately? I asked the same question last year heard some good ones back then.
Today I was in a parking lot waiting for my future Daughter in-law (Amanda) and her Mom, a 5 year old boy and his Mom came up to the car as I was getting out of the Pace Car. The boy's Mom asked if it was ok if he looked at my car, he really loves "race cars" I said sure. The boy was telling his Mom I want a race car when I get older, this car is the best looking race car I've seen. He asked his Mom what does it say on the door? I asked the boy if he wanted to get into the car. He was so excited his Mom asked if I was sure it was ok? I said its fine.
When the boy was leaving Amanda, and her Mom was there Amanda said I bet that made your day? I said more like it made my week.
I told Amanda's Mom I think we need one of those. Amanda said lets get the wedding over with first before everyone pushes for Grandkids.
I was at a car show and every kid that was at the show ran their hands all
over my vette and I didn't like it. Then late in the day I was standing
guard over my vette (after closing the hood) and a little fellow
showed up with his mother. He walks up to me and asks me if I would
mine opening my hood ,he wanted to show his mother my SC. He
surprised me and I said yes;opened the hood and he tells his mother
all about SC. Then he thanked me for opening the hood.
I didn't win a trophy that day but I sure felt like a winner.

My first job was Childcare at a YMCA and all the kids knew my car, They Basically thought I was the equivalent to SpeedRacer
I'll never forget one day at a gas station. I was getting gas and lady had a little boy by the arm pulling him into the store. He was trying to get away from her and yelling
My favorite compliment I ever got was when I picked up my little brother from his school (he's 11, 9 year age difference). All his friends were like, "Dude, your brother's car is so cool!" One even said he wished his brother had one! Then they all got wide-eyed when I revved it.
I've recently given much thought about buying a new C6. My '98 is highly modified, very loud, and not real comfortable. I've never washed it or driven it in the rain in the 12 years that I've owned it. It would be nice to have a car that I could drive in the rain and take on trips. I'm also not getting any younger.
Not to sound big headed, but I get so much attention and so many compliments whenever I take it out that I think I would miss it. I had a guy flag me down in our neighborhood last week and ask me about the car. He actually thought it was new.

You have a car you can drive in the rain, The C5 won't melt and they clean up just fine. I have driven mine in rain, Snow and what ever else there was and when cleaned up I get the same question, I thought it was new. In 12 years you never washed it?
A bunch of 10-12 year old boys were riding bikes around a hardware store parking lot when I drove up. They were looking at the car and pointing. One rode over and asked "what year vette is that sir". I told him it was a 2003. He rode off yelling to his friends, "it's an 03, can you believe it, it's an 03!"

I've done so much to it that I don't want to have to spend hours cleaning it up if I drive it in the rain. Too much chrome, carbon fiber, etc. For every hour I drive it, I probably spend 2 hours cleaning it. And no, I've never washed it. I just use a California Duster and detail spray (in addition to frequent waxing) to clean it.
Stopped at a light 4 year old girl to my left outlaw bikers to my right little girl shots out her window nice car! both bikers thumbs up with bopping heads...lol..then i peel away!
The oldest daughter is 8 months pregnant. Her AC is out on her car so she is driving the wife's car. The wife is driving the Vette until the daughter can scrap up enough jack to fix her AC. When I did the daily convo with the wife yesterday, She commented on the reactions she gets from people she encounters. Some folks go out of their way to wave or speak to her. Compliment her on the car. Some are amazed that she is allowed to even drive the car. Ummm... It's her car too. Most are surprised that it's 13 years old, though we have a 12 year old Dodge PU, and a 3 year old Chrysler vert that are equally as kept up. Vehicles as a whole are expensive.... take care of them. She knows about the "wave". But the reaction she gets from her younger patients apparently just tickles her giblets. They'll come in and want to know who's driving that awesome Corvette in the parking lot. It even has some of the Old Farmers taking notice.
Great thread. Those are pretty good. I enjoyed reading them. Thank you.
I haven't had mine long enough to experience many myself yet but most of my friends that have seen it can't believe its an 01 or that it was $21k with only 35k... When I'm driving her its one of the only times I enjoy pulling my torch red, top down into gas stations to fuel her up. Everyone there checks it out big time and with all the women turning heads makes me feel 25 again. OMG that was 30 years ago
The most common compliment from non-Vette owners is the "Is it new?" that many of us on the forum have received over the years.
However, I think my favorite compliment was at a show last year when a former C5 owner and current C6 owner asked me what interior option package I had in my vert as he thought it was factory and he refused to believe me when I told him it was all aftermarket.
