Default Another tire thread

I have a 98 coupe that has Goodyear run flats (stock Sizes) that I put on 4 years ago. My front tires wore unevenly even though I had the car aligned when I bought them.
I just ordered a set of fronts in the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Z/P (run flats).

Has anyone switched from GY run flats to the Pilot Sports run flats and what was your opinions? I still have time to make a decision on whether to go with the Michelins.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Michelins are big improvement over the GY's. For those of us with snow and cold weather the A/S ZPs are the way to go. I loved the PS2 for summer driving--not so great in the winter.

My 02/Z51 came with Goodyear Eagles R/F. Very loud. I changed to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S R/F. Love them. I know of several vette owners that have changed to Michelins.

You will notice the difference. Good luck.

8VETTEZ,

The tires wore on the inside edge, They wore pretty evenly across the tire to about 2" from inside edge. One side is worn more then the other but thats where they are wearing.
I have about 20K on these and probably could have gotten another 10K if they wore evenly.

I went from GY to Michelin runflats - - they're still a bit noisier and ride a bit harder than non-runflats- but understandably, that's the construction of the tire- specifically the sidewall. You figure it's got to support the weight of the car with zero air pressure.

My Michelins are far better than the GY all the way around- no question....but if you mount them up- I'd also suggest getting your car aligned to insure proper wear.

8VETTEZ,

Probably have the print out somewhere, I'll take a look for it.
Right now I'm just getting the tires switched and I'll probably take them at a later time and have the front aligned again. The guy who did the alignment for me last time was from Goodyear and I know him real well.
He has been with Goodyear for around 20 years so and he is there alignment guy. But that makes sense about the different specs. If you do get them send them to my mailbox and I'll take them with me when I go.

Thanks,
