I just picked up an 01 z06, I was looking at some blackout kits, but I dont want vinyl or decal stick ons, On my charger RT I had the actual tail lights tinted and clear coated, but for the vette all I see is the stick on variations, are there any kits that replace the stock lense/end piece with tinted ones? I rather pay for quality blacked out+clear coated tail lights than cheap stick ons, so looking to get input from anyone who has any experience here?
Don't be fooled by other kits that are only 4 pieces and are the same price!!
Years: 1997 to 2004.
Fits: C5 and ZO6
Material: Acrylic
Installation:
Taillights re-use the factory screws for a tight and secure fit (much harder to steal then the other kits that use velcro, wont fall off either) Reverse light covers and 3rd brake light cover use heavy duty CLEAR 3m double sided tape to securely attach them This means you will not see the tape outline when the third brake light is on or when the reverse lights are on.
Our lens covers are molded to the curve of the factory tail lights. A perfect fit.
Complete color install instructions are provided.
When you turn on your parking lights or use your brake lights they are still highly visible through the blackout covers.
appreciate it. I like to tint lights, but prefer what I call light tint. It makes them cherry like in appearance. Any darker and you really start to interfere with light output. I've found that light tint barely affects it if at all. Go to my Facebook page (in signature). There are a couple of pics of my work.
These are great lights that JW Offers. I will be installing a set of Modded JW Halos soon. I am having one of the Halos repaired and then they will be installed. So depending on if I leave them uncovered or not I may have a set of 4 molded covers for sale.
The molded version we sell is much better than the spray tint. I have done the spray tint and you get dust and debris in there and have to start all over. The molded lights are the way to go.
I used spray tint and clear coat and wet sanded. It was cheap and they look great. Plus you can choose how dark you want. Its also pretty easy to sand it off if you change your mind later on.
and spray tint is still fine so long as you can still see light bouncing off the internal reflectors from whatever prescribed distance your state requires
wet sand it after you're done & you'll get that shiny gloss finish
