Default Any known starting issues

I've got a 2001 that I've only had for a couple weeks. Every time I've hopped in, it fires right up.....except today. Nothing but click, click, click. Battery seems find and when I roll started it, it fired right up. Just a starter?, or something sinister going on?

any thoughts out there?

Mine was doing the same thing, turned out to be a bad starter solenoid. Tap on the starter solenoid and if the car starts right up then could be a starter issue.

I also vote solenoid, but would check no load battery voltage just to rule that out first. No load voltage needs to be >12.5 (some would even say 12.7).

usually a failing solenoid, or a corroded or lose connection at the starter solenoid.

a long handled crow bar works better. 24 inch with a straight end and a curved end

buddy of mine with an 02 tells me to try mashing the clutch to the floor. He says to really hammer it down and try it....darn thing fires right up and has been right every since. So now I'm learning about clutch switches.

Suggest you check the clutch switch adjustment and/or replace. Not real hard to do. You don't want to get stuck where you can't roll start. Other option would be to jumper around the switch. Us old guys never had that safety feature on our cars until the last 20 years or so. The C5 is my only manual car with that feature, everything else is 1971 or earlier. However, if you do the jumper and sell the car please inform the buyer you did that. If you need help on how to set the adjustment or replace the switch let me know. Mr. Sam

Looked at the FSM. Sorry, apparently there is no adjustment like the brake switch. It just says to remove the connector and then remove the switch. It must just snap in and out with tabs of some sort. You will need to remove the knee bolster to get access.
