Default more tire questions

so after narrowing our tire search down to michelins i called tire rack to get some advice . basically it was '' michelin a/s 3'' for non-runflat and ''bridgestone re960 a/s pole position'' for runflats . so please can i have your thoughts one more time as the bridgestones caught me by surprise and after checking on wifes computer there isn't much info other than bridgestone companys and tire racks .

Haven't heard people mention Bridgestone very often in theses tire discussions.

Why not use the Michelin runflats?

are you driving in snow or freezing conditions?

if no, why look at all season tires?

no foul weather driving , no night driving to speak of , and rarely more than 10 or 12 miles from home . tempted to do without run flats as wife has ''aaa'' and a cellphone and as i've mentioned in other tire posts we only drive vettes 200-300 miles a year . my biggest problem is i am a PESSIMIST wlth zero self confidence , certain something will happen when probability is miniscule . i really appreciate your time folks , thanks . . .peace......ps . actually it's kind of silly to buy them when we drive so little but the goodyears are really loud inspite of having a 1/4 inch of tread left .

You'll be glad you dumped the GYRFs

The Michelins are still noisy, but not near as bad as the GYs

if you have AAA, ditch the RFs altogether and look into Hankooks, you can get a set fairly low

this is what i would do. if you don't drive much and get AAA and or just pack a can of fix-a-flat with you get a set of hankook v12's

great inexpensive tire. they will easily outperform the choices you have mentioned and beings they cost 1/2 the money you could replace them 2x as frequent for good grip and a quiet ride

I have a Z without runflats for the last 7 years. After 38,000 track and street miles I've never had a flat. I carry a bottle of fix a flat but have never needed to use it. Scrap the runflats and use the fix a flat or AAA membership if needed.

Default Lots of advice without specifics.

First of all, most tires today are designed for more specific needs. Some one who drives 60 /100 a day needs a much different tire than a guy who drives on weekends and nice days. You can put anything on the rim and it will work. More expensive tires usually get you benefits that you may not need. Not getting the right tire for your needs can be more costly than if you spent more money to buy what you should have bought in the first place. You are interested in buying tires, you probably have some sort of budget in mind, yet no one mentioned the fact that you should change all of your tire sensors. Run flat tires require more work to remove and install because of the sidewall. the cost to mount runflats can vary over conventional tires by as much as 100 dollars. You do not want to run your tires without tire pressure sensors, no matter what type of tire you chose. I don't want to debate this. If the OP wants to PM me I will give him my expert advice on this subject.
