So a few weeks ago my headlights quit popping up. The lights would work but the buckets wouldn't open. I cleaned all the grounds, checked the fuses but still didn't work. I pulled out the headlight control module and opened it up, it wasn't pretty in there so I found one off a low mile zo6 and bought it. It arrived yesterday and after I installed it the lights opened up just fine! Just wanted to share my success story.
I have the same problem. The dealer just called me and told me it would cost $390.00 for the actuator and $300.00 for labor - thats $690.00 I dont have. I also read that someone got a $12.95 brass gear off ebay and fixed their actuator with no problem. QUESTION: How do you get in there to pull the actuator? My left side light works but doesn't pop up. Can anyone help me? P L E A S E?

My headlights (2000) pop up when I turn on the parking lights. The passenger side actuator motor runs about 5 seconds too long after turning off. This sounds like a problem with the HCM, but anyone know of an adjustment on the actuator that might adjust the run time/shut off? Also, that HCM is camouflaged and hidden up under the passenger headlight (correct?). Thanks to anyone who can lend some experience.

Your gear has gone bad. It's a pretty simple procedure and there's many videos and pics on here and yutube. That gear replacement will also stop your headlights coming up when you just use the parking lights.
